What are go links?

Go links, also known as go/links, golinks, go-link, or go to link, are intuitive, easy-to-remember short links, shared by teams. It transforms long, ugly URLs into human-readable go links that you can use directly in browsers, emails, chats, and in conversation.

Example of what are go links

It is a productivity tool that allows teams to more effectively access and share resources like a document, company logos, product backlog, or a timeline. Go links are shared by the entire organization —although you can have go links for personal use— such that if one team member creates one, everyone else within the organization can use it. This helps speed up information sharing and encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing. You can learn more from our blog post: “Go Links: The Ultimate Guide [everything you need to know]“.

There are typically three categories go link solutions fall into: internal solutions, open-source solutions, and SaaS solutions (like us!).

An internal solution is built in-house by the company that will be using it.
  • Pros:
    • Closed system that doesn’t rely on third-party applications
    • Build exactly what you need
  • Cons:
    • Time and money spent on building and architecting the solution
    • Time and money spent on maintaining the solution
    • No inherent security protocol or data-recovery safety net
    • You are on the hook for any catastrophic incidents
    • The solution is only as good as you make it (limited features)
Open-source solutions are available for download online although they are very rudimentary.
  • Pros:
    • Free to get up and running
  • Cons:
    • Time and money spent on infrastructure setup
    • Time and money spent on maintaining the solution
    • No inherent security protocol or data-recovery safety net
    • You are on the hook for any catastrophic incidents
    • Little to no iteration by original authors which limits features
  • Pros:
    • Quick integration
    • Security and data-loss prevention is already built into the product
    • Continuous feature iterations
    • Scalability as your team grows
    • Peace of mind
    • Dedicated customer support
    • Cheaper in the long run
  • Cons:
    • Subscription cost (although cheaper in the long run when you factor in time and money spent on internal or open-source solutions and the value received in security and features).
